About COMSOC-2016

Computational social choice is a rapidly growing discipline at the interface of social choice theory and computer science. It is concerned with the application of computational techniques to the study of social choice mechanisms, and with the integration of social choice paradigms into computing (Read more.)

The Sixth International Workshop on Computational Social Choice (COMSOC-2016) will take place on June 22–24, 2016, in Toulouse, France. It will be hosted by the Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT) of the University of Toulouse. The aim of the workshop is to bring together different communities: computer scientists interested in computational issues in social choice; people working in artificial intelligence and multiagent systems who are using ideas from social choice to organize societies of artificial software agents; logicians interested in the logic-based specification and analysis of social procedures; computer science theorists analyzing algorithmic properties of social phenomena; and last but not least people coming from social choice theory itself: economists, mathematicians, and political scientists.

COST Action IC1205 Industry Day

The COST Action IC1205 on Computational Social Choice is a European research network with members from 38 countries who work on topics related to collective decision making, such as elections, fair allocation of resources, and matching markets.

The Industry Day will take place at the Manufacture des Tabacs on 21 June 2016. The aim of the Industry Day is to bridge the gap between current theoretical research in computational social choice and innovative applications in industry and policy making related to collective decision making.

The programme will consist of a number of invited keynote presentations by representatives of companies making innovative use of collective decision making technologies. There also will be a poster session for researchers seeking contact with industry as well as the opportunity for companies active in this domain to present themselves to the research community.

Participation to the Industry Day is free of charge, but registration is required (please check the relevant box while registering for the COMSOC workshop).

The preliminary program is available at www.irit.fr/COMSOC-2016/industry.shtml
